Memorable Mondays — Stuffed animals for Nursing Homes

This week's Monday post features a lovely blog entry over at Dementia by Day, written by Rachael Wonderlin. Rachael recently opened up a "pet shop", including a handful of Memorable Pets, at her dementia care facility, and has been keeping note of how the residents are responding to the pet shop area and its stuffed animal pets.   This week's Memorable Monday post once again highlights Michela Paradiso's high school capstone project of 2012, a video compilation that showcases personal stories from those affected by Alzheimer's disease, Alzheimer's in artistic media such as books and film, an explanation of the disease, as well as the work being done by Memorable Pets and Michela's own involvement in the making of her project. This week's Memorable Monday post highlights Memorable Pets' Pets 2 People program, which is listed as a featured program for dementia and Alzheimer's assistance at ProgramsforElderly. Through our Pets 2 People program, pets can be donated to patients in nursing homes or care facilities to become faithful companions and bringers of love and comfort. If you choose to purchase a pet through the Pets 2 People program, you will receive via e-mail the name and condition of the patient your pet was donated to, as well as their reaction to the pet upon receiving it.
