In Memory Of ...

Our latest dedication in January of 2021, is from Judy Arena of Lebanon TN.

In Loving Memory of Ann Arena and Carol Czaplinski, Tennessee

“ALL IN FOR GIVING WITH KINDNESS”

Kindness...such a simple word, but the act of kindness is powerful and combined with the act of giving, can positively change a person’s life.

Ann Arena  I was fortunate to spend time with my Mom, Ann, during her last months while in a Memory Care Unit. Although she did not know I was her daughter, she knew I was someone who cared about her and loved her.   Of my most treasured moments with her were the ones where she smiled and laughed. She loved very soft blankets as it was a comfort for her to touch and feel them. She enjoyed being wrapped in a soft sherpa jacket. I know how powerful sensory stimulation positively affected the quality of her daily life. My Mom, who passed away 2 years ago, was an inspiration to me and a reminder of how precious life is.

For 34 years, I shared my life with a wonderful and loving person, my wife, Carol. She was so generous and kind and nothing made her happier than giving to others. Another passion of ours was always animals. We volunteered for various rescue facilities; adopted rescue dogs and cats and fostered many litters of kittens and puppies over the years. She unexpectedly passed away several years ago and I was again reminded how precious life is.

It is because of my love, respect and admiration of these two incredible women that I have honored their memory by giving to ALL Memory Care Units in Tennessee. "As Alzheimer's disease progresses, the need to nurture, love and be loved increases." American Assoc Geriatric Psychiatrists. This was accomplished through a small company called Memorable Pets. Memorable Pets is a unique company started by two sisters whose Mom suffered from Alzheimer’s. They offer new, soft, stuffed dogs and cats in various breeds and sizes specifically selected for people with Alzheimer’s. All their products meet US federal safety standards for institutional use.

Stuffed animals for Alzheimer’s patients are proven to be an enormous benefit for those in mid-late stages of the disease where age-related regression occurs and the need to nurture increases.  Memorable Pets have many breeds and types of dogs and cats to choose from. I hope you will join me on this journey of providing soft, cuddly pets for more Alzheimer residents around the US, especially during this time of isolation due to the pandemic. Together we can provide Alzheimer residents with an improved quality of life by this simple gift. Thank you for your kindness in caring for our family members, friends, and even strangers. I hope you will share stories and pictures with me on my new Facebook page.  Please also feel free to share this site with family members of residents, as they may be interested in ordering one for their loved one.  If you want more information of how you can participate in this mission, please email Bettina Rusher, owner of Memorable Pets, at:  bettina@memorablepets.com  Bettina will give you a custom quote of her “pets” with a generous discount for this important cause.

Sincerely, Judy Arena, email:  ownalake@hotmail.com

"In Memory Of" program was created at the request of a young man, David Martinez, of Houston Texas.  He wanted friends and family to give Memorable Pets to seniors with dementia in lieu of flowers after his grandmother passed. David felt this small gesture is a way to help others and make a difference in their lives!

If you are interested in doing the same in honor of your loved one please email me: bettina@memorablepets.com .  We will create a collection of products which can be purchased on our website. The pets will be discounted for professional use. The Memorable Pets purchased will be sent to facilities with Memory Care in your loved ones community!  All will be documented and you will know where all the pets went and who received them.
